A climate neutral factory

Since September 2022 our production site in Vietnam has been officially certified as climate neutral*. With our headquarters in Reutlingen already certified as climate neutral in 2021, this is another major step towards reducing the impact of our business activities on the environment.

Companies, processes, and products are declared climate neutral if their CO2equivalent (CO2e) emissions are precisely measured and compensated by supporting internationally recognized offset projects. In addition to the general prevention and reduction of CO2e emissions, these compensation programs stand for essential steps towards integrated climate protection.

At Wendler Interlining Vietnam Ltd, already built as a state-of-the-art sustainable green factory, we worked with ClimatePartner to calculate our CCF - Corporate Carbon Footprint. This includes emissions from sources such as energy and heating, production, office, and everything else that we use in the operation of our company. To make the site climate neutral, we offset 1,616 t of CO2e, corresponding to the 2021 site emissions.

Additionally, we also calculated the CCF at product level along the value chain, from material procurement and processing to distribution and storage, waste treatment and transport. As a result, it is now possible to offer the cotton interlinings produced at Wendler Vietnam climate neutral for a corresponding surcharge. This surcharge is exclusively used to offset the CO2e emissions by supporting internationally recognised climate protection projects.

This is the next consequent step towards integrated sustainability and thus drives the product development of sustainable interlining solutions including GOTS, OCS and GRS certifications as well as the transformation to a climate neutral group.

*Note: Indirect emissions occurring outside the company, such as emissions from the production of raw materials and intermediate products, external logistics and the use and disposal of products or other processes, are not subject to climate neutrality.
